About the event
Swim 1922 is more than a swim class—it's a powerful partnership for progress. This initiative, is inspired by Swim 1922, the national collaboration between Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and USA Swimming, created to reduce drowning rates and promote water safety awareness in communities of color.
In this spirit, the Eta Lambda Sigma Alumni Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and the Monroe Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. have joined forces with The Bosley Clinic to continue this lifesaving work right here in our own community. Their partnership reflects the values and mission of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)—to uplift our communities through unity, service, and empowerment.
Swim Safe, participants will:
Learn the basics of swim safety and drowning prevention
Gain exposure to water in a safe and supportive environment
Understand how to respond in water emergencies
Receive resources to continue swim education beyond the event
This collaborative effort not only promotes safety but also strengthens the bond between NPHC organizations and the neighborhoods we serve. Together, we’re building a future where all children and families feel confident and safe in and around water.
